Google’s payment platform GPay has launched a new pocket money feature. In this feature, the entire family can use the same UPI ID. In this feature, you will also be able to add those members of the house who do not have a bank account. It is based on NPCI’s UPI Circle feature. It has been added especially for making small payments. As the name suggests, it will serve as pocket money for children and the elderly. Come, let us know how this ‘Pocket Money’ feature of Google will work?
What is pocket money?
NPCI has started UPI Circle service only last year. In this, one UPI account can be used by 5 members. Google’s Pocket Money is also based on this feature, in which you can link 5 members of the household. The most important thing about this feature is that even people who do not have bank accounts can use UPI service. Rest of the members will be able to use UPI payment only from the primary member’s bank account.
How to set up pocket money in GPay?
- For this, first of all you have to launch GPay app in the phone.
- Here you will see the option of UPI Circle in the profile.
- Here tap on Set up pocket money.
- In this you have to select the name or number of the person whom you want to add.
- After this, you will have to scan the QR code of the UPI Circle of the person you want to add to your circle.
- Here you will have to choose between monthly limit or approve every payment option.
- Then enter your details and secondary user information and Aadhaar number.
- Send invite by entering UPI PIN here.
- Pocket money service will start once the secondary user accepts the invite.
Please note that due to security reasons, every primary member will have to verify the identity of the secondary member. For this it is mandatory to enter the ID details of the secondary user. Banks keep these details in their records so that any wrong transaction can be tracked.
