Do you also keep the AC on throughout the day during the summer season? Does your AC also remain on day and night? Do you also keep the AC on for hours? If you do this, it is not only a threat to your health, but can also invite technical fault in the AC. Not only this, the AC compressor can overheat and explode. In such a situation, this question might be arising in your mind that for how many hours should the AC be kept on continuously?

How long should you run AC continuously?

According to experts, if your AC is new and in good condition, then you can run it continuously for 8 hours to 24 hours. At the same time, if the AC is old and has not been serviced, then running it continuously is a danger signal. However, these days most of the modern ACs available in the market work on inverter technology. Besides, they are also provided with automatic temperature control and power-off system. It is also safe to keep such AC on continuously. However, the electricity bill may be higher.

What is the safe way to run AC continuously?

The formula to run AC safely continuously in summer is that you should never keep the temperature of your air conditioner below 24 degrees. Also, never run the AC at 100% capacity. Doing this will put more load on the compressor and may also cause short-circuit. The wiring may also become hot when the compressor is under load.

Apart from this, clean the AC filter every other week so that dust does not block the cooling coil of the AC and the airflow remains correct. Deep cleaning and servicing of AC every two to three months is equally important. Always turn on sleep mode in the AC at night so that the AC automatically powers off at a fixed time. This not only saves electricity bills but also keeps the AC safe.
